Get ready for spooky season: the time when people dress up, beg for candy at strangers’ houses, and watch horror movies for their entertainment. There are plenty of reasons why Halloween is overrated.
For some strange reason, Halloween has a loyal following from many people around the world. The hype surrounding this boring holiday makes it even more unlikeable. Apparently, people find joy in decorating with skeletons, pumpkins, ghosts, tombstones, etc., for a holiday that has no purpose at all.
Decorating too early is something Halloween fans never fail to disappoint at doing. There will be creepy and tacky decorations put up every year, always a month and a half before the holiday even begins. It sucks the joy out of having fun seeing decorations during Halloween night as you trick or treat; you’ve already seen them for every night since September 3.
The whole premise of Halloween is to be scared and to dress up in a silly little costume. What kind of a holiday is that? This is the one time of the year when people enjoy being scared and no one challenges it.
Halloween also brings needless stress. You have to get candy for children you don’t even know, you have to pick a costume, you have to be in the spooky spirit. Candy costs money, you can only wear a costume (normally) once a year, and being scared is, well . . . being scared. Where’s the fun in that?
The activities around Halloween are probably worse than the holiday itself. People flock to haunted houses to get a good scare (or because everyone else is doing it), carve pumpkins just to seem seasonal, and run around every Halloween store to find the coolest costume. It’s not even worth it since Halloween is one day of the year and usually work and school are still in session.
Halloween is the worst holiday and there are no redeeming qualities to it.
