Our cross country team recently ventured to their pre-state championships in Hershey, looking forward to some impressive finishes which is to be expected of our impressive boys and girls teams.
The boys managed to secure an impressive third place finish, with senior Tyler Biss leading the team with a time of 16:48, continuing to keep up a great pace in his individual feats, grabbing himself an individual ninth place finish in the meet.
The team’s average time came out to 18:13.
Junior Trenton Reagan is optimistic about how the team has been performing and the rest of the season for the boys: “The team performed really well at the Hershey meet and had some pretty good placements in it. We’ll continue to push forward and run through any challenges that come our way.”
The girls were able to secure a seventh place finish, with senior Rylie Teapole leading the team with a time of 21:56 and an individual placement of 39.
The team’s average came out to 22:50.
After states, the team competed in a section meet September 24 against West Allegheny and Ambridge at West Allegheny where the boys team were triumphant over both schools, remaining undefeated in their section.
Biss and junior Isaac Burtt led the team with second and third place individual finishes.
The girls also beat both West Allegheny and Ambridge with Teapole and senior Danica Purtell leading the way.
Upcoming meets for the teams include a meet against Chartiers Valley and New Castle at Brady’s Run, the Grove City Invitational at Memorial Park, and the MAC competition at Brush Creek, all to happen in the first two weeks of October.
Our teams look forward to the rest of the season leading up to a chance at the WPIAL title and stage qualifications, something that our teams should be confident in achieving as the rest of the season sits ahead of them.
