There’s no better way to usher in the last quarter of the school year than March Madness style basketball games and a rock concert in the auditorium.
As the third nine weeks came to a close, the students of Beaver Area High School had a pep assembly that allowed them to enjoy the start of the last quarter of the school year.
After lunch March 23 high school students gathered in the gym to watch teams from each grade level battle it out on the basketball court. The juniors ended up winning the day and taking home the March Madness title.
When the games were over the students were ushered to the auditorium for a performance from the Air Force band “Full Spectrum.”
Students were surprised to find a full concert setup gracing the stage, complete with sound system, a fog machine, and light show.
Junior Kylee Podunavac exclaimed, “It was super fun! It’s definitely one of those days that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.”
When the concert started students rushed to the front of the orchestra pit to sing along with the pop rock hits the band performed. The intermission featured a brief speech by an Air Force recruiter, followed by students being called up on stage to demonstrate their smooth dance moves.
“It was super awesome,” shared junior Vivian Potts, who was one the students called onto the stage. “I think a lot of the people who left [school] early [that day] regretted it.”
Even the chaperoning teachers were caught off guard as several shook their heads and smiled during the energetic performance as if to say, “Is this really happening right now?!”
“Totally unexpected—but pleasantly surprised!” recalled Mrs. Sara Fritz about the performance.
The band performed a range of covers of songs from popular artists such as “Stay” by The Kid LAROI, “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, and “Ghost” by Justin Beiber.
What a way to end the quarter! Good luck heading into the final stretch, Bobcats!
