Despite a rocky start, the Beaver Area girls volleyball team is on a roll!
The varsity girls have a current season record of 2–3.
After devastating losses against Quaker Valley, Blackhawk, and Shenango high schools the girls have come back with a winning streak against Riverside and Beaver Falls.
“I’m so proud of this team and how we’ve played these last three games,” stated sophomore player Grace Vinopal about the season turnaround.
As expected the current breakout stars are hitters, team captain junior Chloe List and freshman Kailyn Connelly, who rack up numerous kills and aces every game.
List was also named the AA player of the week the week of September 5 by The Beaver County Times.
Sophomore captain and starting setter Zoe Ringer has also been living up to her high expectations by assisting in almost all points every game.
The Beaver Falls and Riverside games September 8 and 13 were also complete shutouts with the Bobcats winning the first three of their matches without needing the other two.
Sophomore Chloe Tooch summarized: “We are progressively and steadily getting better, but we still have a long way to go.”
Both the coaching staff and players all expressed the lack of unity among the team with the first two games, but the girls seemed to have found the unity that they were lacking.
Kylie Conley, a sophomore hitter, said, “We are getting better and I’m proud of everyone!”
Despite initial setbacks, the returning 2021 section champions still have hopes to fulfill their goal of making the 2A section championship.
The team has seemingly worked out their differences and are working together more smoothly.
Conley also stated that “Even though we have a long way to go, we are so much better than we were in the summer.”
