The Bobcats baseball team is looking to start off their season on a good note.
The Bobcats have eight seniors playing this season including NCAA Division I commit Mitch Lang (University of Akron). Jack Ray also committed to Frostburg State University.
The Bobcats looked to start off the season with a scrimmage against New Brighton High School March 13, but it was postponed due to inclement weather.
Last season the Bobcats finished second in WPIAL Section 4A with a 12-5 record and a 10-2 record in section play. They made it to the WPIAL 4A playoffs and won their first game before they got eliminated in the quarterfinals.
This season the competition is expected to be the same teams as last year which includes a very tough Montour team.
“I have a lot of respect for Montour; they take their program very seriously and craft very talented players. However, I think we can handle them this year,” said sophomore Parker Pupi.
The Bobcats’ home opener is against Highlands this afternoon with the first pitch at 4 p.m. All home games will be played at Hardy Field in Brighton Township.
“The boys are very hungry this year, and it was a shame that we fell short last year and we’re excited to get back to work,” said head coach Noah Medich.
