Did the Easter bunny bring you lots of goodies this year?
The nearly weeklong Easter/Spring break this year allowed more time for some Beaver Area High School students to relax and even allowed some students to take small trips (safely of course).
Sophomore Jackson Vuckovich took an early jump into summer and spent his break at Lake Erie with his family.
“I spent some time at Lake Erie and had Easter dinner there with my family,” Vuckovich shared about his trip. “Oh, and I also jumped in the lake for fun.”
Although several students took smaller local trips, some students and their families decided to go all out. Sophomore Ella Peluso and her family spent their spring break near Fort Myers, Florida.
“My grandpa lives in a small town outside of Fort Myers, so we went to visit and spend Easter with him,” shared Peluso.
Peluso took advantage of the warm weather and was able to go swimming and spend some time at the beach watching the sunsets—which all of us would rather be doing right now too.
Like most people on break, senior Sydney Cavett enjoyed her time away from school, but used the long break to visit a few colleges she is interested in attending in the fall.
“One of the colleges I visited was West Virginia University. The campus was really nice,” said Cavett.
Unfortunately, Cavett was not able to stay away from the stress factor of school, though.
“I’m really stressed because I need to make a decision on a college in a month, and I’m still so torn among a few schools,” said Cavett. “I hope to visit my top choices a few more times so I pick the best school [for me].”
What’s the best way to relive that stress? Hanging out with friends. Junior Emma Shearer and sophomore Ella Andrews got to enjoy some much needed time with friends over the break.
“I went go-karting with a couple of my friends; I wasn’t very good though,” laughed Shearer.
The break was also full of firsts for Andrew when she “went quad riding for the first time with friends, and I passed my drivers test too!”
Who doesn’t love a friendly competition to round out their Easter break? Sophomore Ana Avdellas competed in a Greek basketball tournament April 3 for her Greek Orthodox Church in Aliquippa, Kimisis tis Theotoku.
“My church’s team won first place after winning three games,” exclaimed Avdellas. “It was a really fun way to bring the church together.”
Quarter four is finally here, so welcome to the home stretch! Finish out the year on a good note and get out and enjoy the spring weather!
