Bordering the anguish of Ohio and West Virginia, and surrounded by the torment of New Jersey and Delaware, lies the greatest state in the union: Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania decided the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Pennsylvania was once home to the nation’s capital. Pennsylvania is my home, and it reigns supreme.
Since its founding in 1681 by William Penn, Pennsylvania has outshined all neighboring states and territories. Geographically speaking, Pennsylvania is quite diverse. We Keystone Staters enjoy the very best geographical features of the United States. From our expansive rivers to our breathtaking mountains, we occupy heaven itself. From our glittering waterfalls to our towering forests, we represent the very best of America.
The Quaker State is also home to our country's most beautiful cities. From the expansiveness of Philadelphia to the quaintness of Scranton, our cities eclipse the appalling wastelands of Youngstown and Cleveland.
Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, is our state’s most populous metropolis: Philadelphia ranks as the fifth most populous city in the country. Philadelphia houses historical wonders such as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. It is home to world renowned museums and culinary wonders. Philadelphia’s architecture is superb: in 1932 the first international-skyscraper was constructed in Philadelphia. Our biggest city overshadows the third-rate hamlet of Baltimore.
Pittsburgh, our city, is perhaps our state's greatest. Marked by its stunning rivers and valleys, Pittsburgh is a city of ecstatic beauty. Pittsburgh is known for its sports teams, which are next to none, its bridges, and its unique patchwork of neighborhoods. The Steel City towers over whatever Buffalo is.
Our cities are the envy of the country, but so too are our vast rural enclaves. From our array of National Parks to our endless waterways, Pennsylvania’s envious wilderness surpasses New Jersey’s sprawl and Delaware’s boredom.
So I guess the only real downside of living in the Keystone State is our neighbors. How could such a great state have such neighbors? Ohio? West Virginia? Maryland? New Jersey? Delaware (why are you even a state with a population equal to Allegheny County’s)? New York? . . . Okay. I have a special affinity for New York as most of my family originates from the Empire State . . . but the fact remains that Pennsylvania is the greatest state in the union.
I may believe in human equality, but I am a state supremacist, because for me, it's P.A. all the way.
