Happy homecoming!
In honor of homecoming weekend, students showed school pride with a spirit week September 19-23.
The event was organized by the student council led by staff sponsor Mrs. Susan Metelsky.
The daily themes were as follows: jerseys Monday, Twin Day Tuesday, Country Club vs. Country for Wednesday, Tye Dye Thursday, and Bobcat Spirit Friday.
The themes were selected by the student council. The five top picks were chosen, one for each day of the week. The themes also were shared with middle school, who also participated in spirit week.
Additionally, a pep rally was held outside on Tarquinio Field Friday afternoon capping off the week.
The homecoming football game was Friday night, and its theme was white out. The theme for the homecoming dance Saturday night was school spirit.
The student response to spirit and homecoming week was overwhelmingly positive.
Senior cheer captain Emily Young commented, “I really advise all of my cheerleaders to participate in Spirit Week because it motivates other people to, and I think that whenever we all participate in spirit week each day, it’s really cool to look at everyone and think, like, ‘oh my, homecoming is this week!’ You know, it’s like a reminder. My cheerleaders just get hyped; we all get excited.”
As somebody whose sport raising school spirit and morale, Young knows what she’s talking about.
Even though Spirit Week and homecoming have come to an end, the spirit can live on—Let’s go Cats!
