The clothes, the music, the dancing, and a wonderful night to remember—it’s officially time for Homecoming!
After an exciting white-out football game Friday night, it was time to dance and party from 6 to 9 p.m. September 24 in the Beaver Area High School gymnasium.
Homecoming plans were coordinated by Mrs. Angelique Avdellas, mother of senior class president Ana Avdellas, and the senior class officers.
The event was originally planned to be a casual affair where everyone was to sport Bobcat spirit wear, but this idea was quickly shot down by the student body. The dance soon became a semi-formal event as in years past.
As well as a changed dress code, the venue of the annual dance was changed as well. After selling over 400 tickets, over 100 more than last year, the dance was moved from the cafeteria to both the cafeteria and gym to accommodate the crowd.
Junior Sam Anderson stated that “the turnout was great!”
Students had the option to dance in the gym or eat and socialize in the cafeteria.
Though the food earned mixed reviews from attendees, it consisted of all of your favorite “party” foods. There was Texas Roadhouse salad, various pizzas, Chick-Fil-a chicken nuggets, and an ice cream bar as well as chips, drinks, and candy.
Freshman Jack Wilson observed that “the pizza was cold and the ice cream melted very fast.”
The music, as per usual, received mixed reviews as well, but senior Delaney Young stated that “the music selection was very diverse and overall pretty good; I liked it.”
Wilson also said that “[sophomore] Darren Baxter should be recognized for his amazing dance moves and for being the life of the party.”
Some people including Anderson felt that “The gym was way better this year, and I didn’t even go last year because it was on the field,” about the venue.
Young also explained that she “liked the gym way better.”
Despite the fun decorations in the cafeteria some students felt more lack of decorations were needed surrounding the dance floor.
Miss Beth Spence and junior Tess Foster of the yearbook staff took all of the homecoming photos in front of a classic fall backdrop.
