The girls soccer team looked to stay hot as they wrapped up the season competing for a section title.
The Bobcats started the second half of the season hosting Central Valley September 25 where they won convincingly 8-1. The girls were led by senior Sydney Chontos who scored four goals.
October 2 the girls traveled to Avonworth to take on the defending WPIAL champions with hopes of keeping their lead atop the section. The Bobcats were able to take home the win 3-1 with goals by seniors Emerson Connelly and Chontos and junior Jocie Biela.
The girls returned home October 7 to host Ambridge. The girls pulled off a 6-1 win hat tricks from both Chontos and freshman Mia Furda.
Next up was an important section game for the Bobcats at Quaker Valley October 9. For the first time this year the girls fell short, losing 2-1 with the lone goal being scored by Chontos. This loss tightened the race for the top of the section and brought both Beaver Area and Quaker Valley into a tie atop the section.
Before closing out section play the girls traveled to McGuffey October 12 for their final non section game of the season. The Bobcats won easily, wining 8-0 with hat tricks from seniors Lilia Battalini and Chontos.
October 16 the Bobcats had their final game of the season hosting Hopewell, where if they won they would split the section title with Quaker Valley. The Bobcats won the game 5-0 securing their section title in the last game before heading into the playoffs.
During the WPIAL playoff bracket release the Bobcats were given the three-seed in the bracket and drew 14 seed Shadyside Academy in the first round. The game will take place October 22 at 6 p.m. at the Tarq.
“We had a very successful regular season, and I think we have a good chance of making it far in playoffs this year if we keep playing well,” said junior Cali Coups.
The Bobcats finished the the regular season with an impressive 15-1 record and as co-section champions.
