A Court of Thorns and Roses stans, I have the next book for you.
The powerful five-book series has come to an end, or has it?
In A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, Nesta Archeron, the oldest of the three Archeron sisters, delves into what her newfound power really means.
In A Court of Mist and Fury (the third book in the series), readers saw Nesta erupt from the Cauldron (from which everything is made) with an abundance of power. The power of death.
At first, Nesta abhors her new power and neglects it by drinking herself into oblivion. She takes out her anger on everyone but herself. She is ashamed of whom she has become and she can’t face herself.
Cassian, Rhysand’s general (the High Lord of the Night Court), essentially drags Nesta from her drunken state to the House of Wind in which she presides throughout most of the novel. She refuses to do any tasks given to her especially in training. She claims it is because “people are watching her,” but in reality she doesn’t want to face that power she took from the Cauldron.
Eventually, Nesta accepts her duties whether that be in training or in the library. In the library she faces priestesses that have been through the same kind of pain as Nesta which creates a bond between her and one priestess in particular: Gywn.
With Nesta’s training, she feels more confident than ever about herself which motivates her to invite the priestesses and Emerie (an Illyrian female) to join in on the trainings.
With Emerie and Gwyn, Nesta learns the true power of friendships and sees in herself some good. Her friends motivate her, Cassian pushes her, but it’s Nesta who makes the changes within herself.
By the end of the novel, the three girls have gone through a tremendous amount together—SPOILERS—such as completing the blood rite, cutting down that ribbon, and becoming Valkyries together.
Nesta Archeron sure does the unbelievable in A Court of Silver Flames, but even Nesta cannot stop the war from brewing across the sea.
How will Nesta, Cassian, Emerie, and Gwyn handle this gathering storm? How will they face death themselves? They all have done it once but it must be done again.
