After only loosing one set all season, the Beaver Area volleyball team has a promising path during the playoffs.
Each game so far this season has seemed to be pretty one-sided with the Lady Bobcats wining almost every game three sets to none.
October 22, the Beaver Lady Bobcats lost their first set of the season again Blackhawk Cougars, 20-25. They had still won the game, three sets to one; however, losing a set may have been something this team needed.
“As disappointing as it was to lose one set all season, I think it was a wake-up call for playoffs,” explained senior captain Eden McElhaney.
They knew they had to keep improving every day in order to get redemption in the semi-finals of the WPIAL playoffs where they lost three sets to one against North Catholic last year. After their last regular season win, they knew that they had a no-win no-lose record for playoffs.
“We’ve been looking at our matchups and strategizing ways to help us win. Although these strategies have been beneficial the best thing we can do is play our own game,” stated junior Kylie Haczela.
October 29, they started this year’s path for playoffs with a typical-for-Beaver three sets to none win over Albert Gallatin at home for the first round of the playoffs.
Look out for another Beaver Area Bobcats section win next year as well.
“For next season, we’re losing four starting players but have very talented freshmen coming up. Everyone on the team is willing to work extremely hard to still become section champs for the third year in a row,” predicted Haczela about the 2021-2022 season.
