After a tough start to the season, the wrestling Bobcats won two matches to make their record 2-2.
January 20, the Cats defeated the New Castle Hurricanes in a tight match, 30-27.
After pinning their first win of the season, they were ecstatic, “it felt good.”
They didn’t let the win get to their head though, because the Cats went on to defeat the Carlynton Cougars in a nail biter match, 31-30.
The Bobcats then faced the Ellwood City Wolverines, January 27, where they defeated the Wolverines 36-30. The Bobcats are on a roll with a three-match win streak.
Three short days later they then dominated the Central Valley Warriors, 30-21.
However, all good things must come to an end, including the Bobcats’ four-match win streak. The Bobcats faced the Seneca Valley Raiders where they were overpowered 77-0.
This didn't stop the Bobcats from wanting to win. They then faced multiple opponents at Freedom Area High School February 3 in a five-way match. They started off strong with a 42-6 win over the Ambridge Bridgers.
They then fell short in a 39-24 loss against the Freedom Bulldogs. They then came back from the loss to defeat the South Side High School Rams 36-14.
Their final match of the night was a close 33-27 loss against Fort Cherry High School Rangers ending the night with a record of two wins and two losses.
With no time to recover, February 4, the Bobcats faced the West Allegheny Indians with a dramatic loss 54-6.
“We have a lot of work to do,” explained freshman Nick Thompson.
The Bobcats' overall record is balanced at six wins and six losses. They have just a few short weeks until playoffs begin.
