Bad luck floats through Beaver Area High School—beware Friday the 13th. Bad luck comes in many forms from forgotten gym clothes to strange broken objects, to stuck lockers, and sketchy WiFi connectivity.
With our recent Friday the 13th, we wondered how the notoriously unlucky day (or bad luck in general) affected our school community.
“Every Thursday I fall down the stairs at the exact same time. No matter how hard I try to stop it from happening, I always fall,” junior Jaden Emerick said.
Your luck may not be as bad as Emerick’s, but it may still be bad enough to cause suspicion.
Emerick isn’t the only apparently unlucky person.
Senior Alexis DeMacio said, “My pencil kept breaking every time I tried to write, and it wasn’t just one faulty pencil, all my pencils were broken.”
Emerick stated his pencils were always breaking as well, but blamed it on Beaver Area High School’s notorious humidity.
History teacher Mr. Scott Hazuda said, “My fantasy football team makes me feel unlucky.” Many others certainly feel the same way (Ben is injured!?!)
Sophomore Larisa May might have been the most unlucky of them all.
May stated, “The first day of school my jumpsuit ripped; it was awful spooky.”
And it could have been awful embarrassing.
Sophomore Bryson Helon didn’t believe he was unluckier than usual, although Helon does hope his luck and everyone else’s turns around after September 13.
Remember to keep an eye out for black cats and try not to break any mirrors.
