The Beaver Area Cross Country team has put an impressive cap on their WPIAL season, the boys taking second place in the WPIAL race at White Oak, and the girls taking sixth in their WPIAL race.
This competition was run October 24 at White Oak Park in White Oak, PA. Quaker Valley unfortunately was able to pull ahead of our boys to take the title, but certainly not because of a lack of competition.
Senior Tyler Biss ran a 16:02 race, landing in sixth place, senior Ryan Groff took 12th with a 16:33 time, and junior Isaac Burtt rounded out the Beaver top-three in 16th overall with a 16:43 time.
As for the girls, senior Rylie Teapole took 12th overall with a time of 20:01, followed by sophomore Peyton Teapole in 42nd with a 21:22 time, and sophomore Grace Churovia in 50th with a 21:32. It’s certainly not a shabby result, especially for a tough race with some strong opponents.
Eight boys from the team qualified for the PIAA competition in Hershey, and Rylie Teapole also qualified individually.
The PIAA race will take place November 2. They’ll be competing with teams from all over the state as well as joined by familiar competition like Quaker Valley and Blackhawk.
“[PIAA is] a tougher course and we thrive on tough courses. I think we are going to do great no matter what. Just got to give it our all, no matter what,” said Biss who has been the frontrunner for the Beaver Area boys this season.
It’s safe to say we can expect an impressive result from the boys at the state competition, so be sure to be cheering them on—even if it’s just from home.
