Call it another rebuilding year for the Bobcat Basketball program.
January 10, the team played a Friday home game against the Hopewell Vikings. The boys worked together and played hard to secure a welcome win for the Beaver Area Bobcats in a season of tough losses and disappointments. It was a close call but the team won 48-43.
“We were down 13 by the end of the first half, but then we came together and ended up winning by 5 points,” said senior Beckett Connelly.
A few days later, January 14, the Bobcats played an away game at Blackhawk High School. After the boys’ triumphant win against Hopewell, the boys tragically lost against the Cougars. It was another close call, and the game ended in a score of 51-42.
“We were in it for the first half, but then we fell back the second half. It was also pretty cool to hear the student section chanting my name at the end of the game,” said junior Tyler Ziggas.
January 17, the boys suited up to face Ambridge High School. Although the team gave it their best shot, the game ended in another loss 64-37 to the Bridgers.
The boys next game was played January 21. It was a home game against Quaker Valley. To everyone’s dismay, the game ended in the third loss in a row for the Bobcats as they fell to the “fighting” Quakers 76-56.
The QV loss brings the boys Bobcat season record to a disappointing 4-11.
But maybe some school spirit can bring the boys extra luck. So come support our boys team tomorrow as they tip off against Central Valley High School at Central Valley—and hopefully push that record to 5-11.
