Volleyball ended better than the team expected with the team making it all the way to state competitions.
First, continuing their impressive WPIAL run, the team finally met their end against North Catholic during the semi-finals, where they lost 3-1 in a Halloween match-up that was more trick than treat.
However, due to the team getting to the semi-finals in the WPIAL competitions, they qualified to advance to state competitions.
Unfortunately, the volleyball team was not able to advance nearly as far against the other schools who made it to states. In the quarterfinals November 9, the Beaver Area girls went up against the Yellowjackets of Freeport Area High School, a community east of Pittsburgh. Sadly, they lost 3-0.
Even with this, the girls were very impressed with their journey.
Sophomore Kylie Haczela was simply happy that the team was at states at all.
"We were underdogs the entire season, and it’s a huge accomplishment to make it that far. No one expected us to get that far, but we should’ve gone farther," said Haczela.
One of the team's captains, junior Eden McElhany, was incredibly proud of her team for their performance throughout the season.
"I am so proud of our team. We were picked third in the section and went undefeated in it. We even beat the number-three team in the state in the first round of states," said McElhany.
