Archers fly towards the bullseye once again.
The archery team traveled to Portersville in Butler County February 15 where they took second place again after taking second at Central Valley February 1.
Unfortunately, their Portersville performance wasn’t as good as last year’s when the archery team placed first.
“There were some archers that shot their best and others that needed more practice,” said junior Emily Bubeck, “but we are happy we took second place in Portersville.”
That needed practice should be a bit easier now that the archery team received new targets for practice. And that practice begins early. The archers have to wake up at 5 a.m. in order to make it to practice by 6 in the morning. Raiders who?
The practice will come in handy because the next competition the archery team will tackle is states.
“We are practicing a lot,” explained junior Noah Blattner, “I have to wake up at 5 a.m. to come and practice for states every day this week.”
States will be held March 13 at the main campus of Penn State which is three hours away from the school. Hopefully the archers will bring some luck to this Friday the thirteenth.
“With more practice the team will be more than ready for states,” stated coach Russ Sabo. “We have been placing first or second in every competition this year; I have no doubt the archers will bring their best to states.”
Here’s hoping that they can stay on target.
