Running the route to playoffs, the Beaver Area football team went undefeated on their home turf this season.
As the main event of Beaver Area homecoming, the team took on the Ringgold Rams September 29. Performing even better than expected they trounced the Rams 49-7.
“We came out and executed exactly what we practiced all week. Everyone stayed healthy, and we won with ease,” said senior wide receiver Matt Lipinski.
Following the Homecoming game the team traveled to Ambridge October 5.
“They were a tough team, but they couldn’t keep up with us that night; we dominated them, up and down, 100-yards, both ways,” said senior outside linebacker George Peroni.
The Bobcats dominated the Ambridge Bridgers 51-0. The team clearly had their sights set on playoffs after this blowout.
For another away game, the team bussed a bit further upstream to Quaker Valley October 12 for the Quakers’ homecoming. A hard-fought game, but Beaver came out with yet another double-digit win, 47-14 .
“Our offense came out of the gate running big plays in the second play of the game, but on the other hand the defense was outstanding only giving up one touchdown,” said senior quarterback Brodie List.
But the game that determined their future, taking on the Montour Spartans, October 19 was back on Beaver’s home turf.
Senior wide receiver Mason Rose said, “It was a hard fought chippy game, and there was a lot of trash talk and shoving, but we proved we were the better team.”
The team clinched a playoff spot with the opportunity of home field advantage for their first playoff game. Be sure to read next week’s ECHO for more football updates.
