Printing propaganda: The failing fourth estate . . .
In the lead up to the Iraq War in 2003, major news networks including CNN, The New York Times, and MSNBC ran major stories supporting President Bush’s calls to invade Iraq. Front page stories published in the Times supported the now debunked myth that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Hour-long segments on MSNBC espoused a utopian view for the now war-torn nation. Indeed the United States media played an integral role in convincing the American public to support the war in Iraq—like courtiers in the charade. Read More...
