The Beaver Area boys high school basketball team has had a rocky start but is ready to dominate in the coming weeks.
The team traveled to Neshannock for the season’s tip-off tournament, playing two games over the course of two days, December 7 and 8.
Friday the team took on Mercyhurst Prep, a close game through the first half but ending with a 72-58 loss for the boys.
Unfortunately, during the first game of the tournament sophomore Charlie Higgs rolled his ankle and had to be helped off the court.
The team returned Saturday to match up against the Shenango Wildcats, another close game—a tough game with an end score of 61-49 Wildcats. Senior Brodie List fouled out in the 2nd quarter.
The boys basketball team also had a game December 11 against South Fayette, a tough match-up, but they kept it close losing 57-54.
“We played our tails off defensively and offensively. As much as we wanted to win that game, we didn’t, and now our focus is on Ambridge,” said junior Beckett Connelly.
Sadly, the Bobcats fell to Ambridge December 14 in their first home section game despite senior Peter Kasas draining several three’s.
The Bobcats next game is December 18 against Quaker Valley.
