Last weekend, the Beaver Area archers took aim at states.
Senior Ryan Subrowski shot a score of 295 taking first place. This tied his best score of the season which he shot previously at Portersville.
The Pennsylvania State Tournament marks the fourth time this season that Subrowski has gone home with a first-place finish.
Following Subrowski was senior Jacob Landis who scored 282 and took 18th place, and freshman Manny Garcia and sophomore Ryan Minnick both scored 276.
Sophomore Abby Moldovan scored 275 taking 27th place for the girls. Her sister, Mandy Moldovan, scored close behind at 272, tying with junior Amara Stewart.
Across the high school division, 163 female archers and 202 male archers competed at Spooky Nook.
Beaver Area’s team scored 3,306, and in a major upset, placed fifth out of 11 teams. The team’s record this season is 3,333. Shooting the same score as their season best would’ve given the Bobcats the second place finish most were expecting.
This is the first year that the Pennsylvania State Tournament has been held at Spooky Nook, and many archers already look forward to attending next year.
The 2023 NASP Eastern National Tournament is still to be held in Louisville, Kentucky May 11-13. Last year the Bobcats placed 88 out of 215 teams with a total score of 3,264.
Considering that their score range has increased significantly since then, the Beaver Area Archery Team should expect to place higher this year. Good luck at Louisville, archers!
