After months of hard work, dedication, and laughs along the way, the girls tennis season has come to an end. With a 10-3 record, the team ended with a really great season.
Junior Chloe DeSanzo and freshman Anna Mrkonja won the Section Doubles Championship and competed in the WPIAL Doubles Championship.
The team, under the direction of Coach Janet DiTullio, competed all the way up to WPIAL semifinals against Knoch High School where they were unfortunately eliminated. The team also competed at the WPIAL Consolation match against South Park where they lost 3-2. Despite the losses, the girls tennis team placed 4th in WPIALs.
This, sadly, concludes the final season for seniors Lily Pruszenski and Ella Peluso who celebrated their senior night last month. Good luck to our seniors for life after high school; the team will miss you next year!
With the seniors leaving, freshmen like Mrkonja are the future of the team.
Reflecting on her first season on the varsity tennis team, Mrkonja said, “This season was so much fun. My teammates are great, especially the seniors, Lily and Ella. They made me feel so welcome. I really enjoyed the MAC tournament, winning section doubles with Chloe, and competing with my teammates in the playoffs. I know we will continue to grow as a team and make it so states!”
We look forward to the seasons to come for our girls tennis team and what the future holds for them. Good job girls, and good luck for next year!
