The lucky students who take the Intro to Entrepreneurship class got to go on an exciting field trip recently.
Their teacher, Mrs. Lori Guandolo, accompanied them to Inventionland September 25.
However, unlike typical field trips, before the students could set off on their escapade, they had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. The agreement was to protect the developing inventions from being copied by others looking to profit from the inventors’ work without permission.
Once that was done, the 23 students, who each paid $5 to cover transportation costs, left for their trip at 8:30 a.m. and made their way to O’Hara Township near Pittsburgh.
The class spent about an hour traveling on the bus to get to their fun destination. Inventionland is America’s largest invention factory at a whopping 61,000 square feet. The students spent two hours exploring the 61,000 square feet of new inventions and products.
All the students in the class had a terrific time doing so.
“We saw a bunch of cool inventions; my favorite was this giant orb that was a telephone,” said senior Beckett Connelly.
The fun didn’t end there. After their adventure to Inventionland, the class made a pit stop at the Robinson Mall. The students were allowed to hang out and eat a yummy lunch in the mall food court. Before returning to school.
“I had fun at the mall eating Chick-fil-a with my buddies,” said junior Ben Porto.
This is Mrs. Gaundolo’s first year teaching the course, so it also is her first year going to Inventionland. Mrs. Gaundolo thoroughly enjoyed taking the trip and she hopes to make it an annual activity.
“I loved it. I thought it went really well; I think that the students really enjoyed it,” said Mrs. Gaundolo.
