The Sadie Hawkins Fall Formal dance clearly was a hit considering that 260 people purchased tickets and danced the night away Saturday, November 3.
Beaver Area High School’s cafeteria was packed with kids sitting at tables and dancing in big groups from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The cost of tickets was $12 per student, and the profits went to prom committee to help fund the 2019 prom—much to the delight of junior class sponsor Mrs. Michelle Dietz.
“The whole night was fun, but the best part was Ray Ramie break dancing to ‘Africa’ by Toto as the dance ended,” said senior Ashley Masters.
Students from grades 9-12 were welcome to attend and also were allowed to bring students from other schools as long as a special permission form was submitted in advance.
“I had a lot of fun with my friends that night, and the desserts were excellent,” junior Josh Noah said.
A nice mix of both upperclassmen and underclassmen attended making the dance one of the biggest the school has seen in years, not including prom.
Typical cafeteria dances are lucky to draw 100 students, so the night’s 260 was shocking. (By comparison, last year’s Sadie’s dance saw only 102 tickets sold.)
But it’s not a student dance without someone complaining about the DJ.
“The DJ could have been better,” confessed junior Blake Tanner. “But it was still a lit night.”
“You could tell a lot of hard work was put into it and it turned out great! Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun with each other and enjoy the night,” junior Halie Crider said.
