The boys tennis team looked to finish the season strong at the WPIAL doubles tournament.
After senior Andrew Cavett and sophomore Zack Masters competed in the section doubles championship April 19, they traveled to North Allegheny April 25 where the WPIAL doubles tournament was being held.
The duo didn’t go alone either as some students even skipped school to attend and support Cavett and Masters in their quest for a WPIAL championship.
Cavett and Masters won the first round of doubles defeating Quaker Valley and moving on to face Valley. However, the Bobcat duo wasn’t able to overcome Valley and they departed the tournament in the second round.
“I’m proud of how we did this year for doubles. Making it to finals of sections was a huge accomplishment with Sewickley [Academy] being in our section. WPIAL’s was a success and I’m proud of how much work Zack put into it,” said Cavett.
While this may not have been the way the boys wanted the season to end, they still had a doubles pair that qualified for WPIAL’s and got to participate which was a big honor.
