The Beaver Area Bocce team hit the gym floor rolling this season.
Beginning the season with their home opener against Freedom Area High School January 12, the Bobcats rolled a great game. The game was nail-bitter until the last roll of the match when the Bobcats were able to secure the game winning roll to end 2-1 over the Bulldogs.
After a few practices to perfect their technique, the Bobcats traveled to Beaver Falls High School January 20. Although it was another tedious match for the Bobcats, the team played well leading them to win 2-0 over the Tigers.
“The season is going really well so far. I’m looking forward to our next matches,” said Head Coach Paul Briggs.
The Bobcats were on the road again January 26 against Blackhawk High School. Unfortunately, the match was tough for the Bobcats resulting in their first lost of the season 2-0 against the Cougars.
Finishing the regular season with a home match, the Bobcats took on Central Valley High School for senior night. Before the match, the team had a brief ceremony to celebrate their senior bocce players: Wyatt Ringer, Connor Masters, Casen Pontoli, Mason Lang, and Mathew Bickerton.
After the ceremony, the Bobcats took the court against Central Valley and were able to secure the 2-0 win over the Warriors.
Although the bocce team only has four regular season matches, the team takes advantage of those matches to help them advance to the playoffs. Since the Bobcats ended the season 3-1, the team will be advancing to the playoffs next week at Freedom High School.
Coach Briggs is proud of the team so far and is looking forward to having fun with the team in playoffs.
