Baby names. We all have some ideas (this is mainly targeted at teenage girls. But if a guy is reading this and you have a list of baby names in your notes, more power to you.)
Public Service Announcement: I am not having a child, mom. That is years away precious ECHO readers. This is just for fun.
But I recently became an aunt (reached unc status) and baby names have been a recurring topic in my life recently.
The other day I was sitting in this class—Journalism IIto be exact—and I was sharing these names with my friends. Specifically, Kayla Head thought them to be quite awful and interesting to say the least.
But as I was reading to my friends my baby name ideas from my notes app, I realized that most people don’t agree with me on my name proposals.
So here I am writing this article to show you some of my out-there name ideas and maybe give you some inspiration for your future children (or dog, or cat, or hamster . . . )
To preface, most of these names have been sitting in the disheveled, dusty, dark corner of my notes app for years. I am not accountable for the names I came up with in seventh grade.
First, let’s start with girls' names (as I naturally have a lot more of those . . . )
This name makes me think of country summers and sunshine. As a Tennessee native, I saw this name quite frequently growing up, and my love for it has never dwindled.
If this name sounds familiar, it’s because it’s from The Help. The name of this
bubbly blonde character was also something I was very fond of, and I’m keeping it in my back pocket for my kids.
Yes, like the actress from Dune and Marvel and the city in the great and proud nation of Italy.
This might make you think of an old grandma who has the posture of a right angle, but for me this is a really cool name.
Another grandma-esque name! This one is not only a good name choice but also a stone you can put on your necklace.
As for guys' names . . . they are even more unique . . .
Hear me out. This one is inspired by the spooky stop-motion movie Coraline and the character “Wybie”.
If you’re familiar with the show “Bridgerton” then this name isn’t anything new. But I particularly like this name because it’s a classic and there are a variety of nicknames that could accompany it.
I actually got this name from a Taylor Swift song (shocker) and it’s pretty uncommon (which is a theme I like to stick with, if you couldn’t tell.)
Not going to lie to you, I did in fact get this name from Love Island. But the tropical dating-show aside, I think it’s a really fun and different name. 5. Francis
I quite literally stole this name from the famous Pope. Hopefully the humble holyman won’t mind me stealing his title.
I’m aware that these names are a little out there, but that’s the point. That’s what makes them special. I hope you liked reading about them, and if anything, maybe I solidified for you what you DON’T want to name your children.
