As it comes time to ring in the new year, resolutions become popular as people make any number of promises to themselves and attempt to keep them through the year ahead.
Everyone said, “2020 is going to be my year,” and we all know how that went, but people’s hopes and dreams for 2021 are still alive.
The Beaver Area Bobcats are optimistic about what 2021 will bring and shared some of their “hope-filled” resolutions.
Among all the responses, staying COVID-free was the most popular response, but there are others who are ready to put COVID behind them.
“I really just want to have a more positive outlook on life,” shared junior Jordan Beck.
This year left plenty of time for people to take a step back and reflect—reflect on ways to be better in every aspect of life and they hope to carry this with them through the next year.
“My New Years resolution is to push myself harder than I ever have before,” explained senior Emma Pavelek. “I want to be the best version of myself as an athlete and as a person.”
Do you set goals for yourself? Well, if you don’t you should. It helps you grow as a person and keeps you busy.
Sophomore Abby Noah already has a long list of goals for 2021, and she’s ready to take them on.
“My New Years resolution is to continue to work hard to achieve all my goals that I have set for the new year, and I want to find happiness in everything I do,” said Noah.
A major takeaway from this past year is never to take anything for granted. Simple things like sports and other everyday activities were stripped from people’s lives. This change motivated many people to just live in the moment.
“I want to have more random dance parties every day. In my car, in my room, in the rain, wherever, I think it’s going to be a real mood elevator,” exclaimed senior Isabella DiPietrantonio.
Along with DiPietrantonio, junior Isabel Rubino wants to capture the bittersweet moments throughout the next year so she can remember them for a long time.
“I think my New Years resolution is to take more pictures and videos to look back on,” Rubino shared.
Junior Elle Ray agreed with Rubino and said she wanted to take more pictures in the coming year, but she didn’t stop there. Ray went on to share a long list of resolutions for 2021.
“I want to revamp my 2020 resolutions I failed at. I want to limit the amounts of junk food I eat and avoid drinking soda—I want to stick to drinking water, lemonade, and coffee. I hope to workout at least five days a week and keep my room clean,” commented Ray.
More common answers like working out more or staying healthy were popular among the Bobcats. Along with “I want to stop procrastinating”—which after the virtual school year, where assignments were put off for days, this will hopefully become a resolution everyone accomplishes.
Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year! 2021, please be good to us!
