The tough season for the Bobcats hockey team isn’t getting any easier.
After another tough loss against Blackhawk game suspensions were handed out after a fight broke out between the two teams.
The Bobcats resumed play January 26 at Avonworth High School. The Bobcats lost yet another game 5-3.
Tanner Nicol led the Bobcats’ way with two goals and an assist.
“Obviously this season isn’t going well, but we’re still out on the ice fighting for a win and trying to take away the positives from the games,” said sophomore Caden Canavesi.
Next up for the Bobcats was North Catholic January 31. The game was held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry providing a unique experience for the Bobcats. Unfortunately the Bobcats lost another game, falling 5-1.
Brayden Dawson scored the lone goal for the Bobcats.
“It was a unique experience to play at a professional level facility, and it showed the boys what it looks like to go pro,” said head coach Josh Bioni.
The Bobcats highly anticipated rematch against bitter rivals Blackhawk was played February 2. It looked like it was going to be another rough game for the Bobcats when they were trailing 3-0 at the second period intermission.
The Bobcats found a way to flip the switch and score three goals in the first seven minutes of the period, including one by Trevor Schmidt.
With the game now tied 3-3 with just under two minutes to go the Bobcats had a defensive error putting them down 4-3, and eventually letting up an empty net goal which sealed another 5-3 loss.
The Bobcats have four games left including three at home starting with Montour High School February 9 at 8:50 p.m., Moon Area High School February 16 at 6:45 p.m., and ending with a North Catholic High School rematch February 23 at 6:45 p.m.
