The Beaver Area girls soccer team looked to keep their hot start and undefeated record going as the first half of the season wrapped up.
The girls had a non-section game at South Park September 12 where they would get concede their first goal of the season—but still pick up the win 3-1 with junior Ana Hahn scoring twice in the match.
Section play picked back up for the Bobcats September 14 when they traveled to Ambridge for a Saturday morning game. The Bobcats crushed the Bridgers with the final score finishing 14-1 where senior Lilia Battalini led the way with three goals and four assists. Hahn and senior Sydney Chontos also had hat tricks in the match as well.
The Bobcats returned home for a match against Quaker Valley September 16 where they were in a tight game but were able to pick up the win 3-2.
The girls’ next game was at Hopewell September 25 where they picked up another win by the score of 4-1. The goals were scored by freshmen Mia Furda and Annabella Marino, Battalini, and an own-goal by Hopewell.
To wrap up the first half of the season the girls hosted Riverside September 21 which was also the Bobcats’ senior night. The six seniors, Battalini, Alison Carson, Chontos, Emerson Connelly, Samantha Gonzalez, and Carly Hauser, were all honored before the game.
To make the evening that much sweeeter, the girls would then get the win after the ceremony 6-0 with Chontos scoring four goals and Connelly scoring twice.
“We knew going into the season we had something to prove, so we put everything on the field which has led us to a well deserved undefeated season so far,” said Carson.
The girls will look to finish strong in the second half of the season going in with a 9-0-0 record.
