New Student Section Themes? White-out is an away game this year?!?

Due to starting school earlier this year, we had two football games in August. So what? Are we just supposed to have one game where the student section doesn’t have a theme? No way, let’s take a vote.

On instagram (@thebeaverdam2024) polls were put out asking: What is your favorite classic Dam theme?

The choices were Camouflage, Black-Out, White-Out, and Beach. With a majority vote of 46%, Black-Out took the cake for favorite classic theme. But Black-Out was voted the favorite theme, why is it an away game?

New theme? The choices were Sunday Best, Minions, Adam Sandler Night, and Dress Your Age. The majority vote, separated by just 1%, went to a Minions theme. A close loss for Adam Sandler Night.

The only problem posed, what if some students didn’t see the poll?

So which new theme would you have chosen?

“Adam Sandler night; the cheerleaders can’t really participate in the minion theme,” said senior Natalie Portman who also said that her favorite theme is USA night.

“I don’t particularly like [White-Out theme being away] because normally White-Out is for homecoming,” commented senior Leah Keim.

So what other themes get a thumbs up?

“Beach because it’s always the first game,” exclaimed senior Quinn O’Leary, “which means it’s the end of summer and the start of a new, fun year.”

Though it isn’t her favorite theme, O’Leary wasn’t concerned about the White-Out theme being an away game: “White-Out will be great as an away theme this year because I heard it’s in collaboration with the CV [Central Valley] student section who will be doing Black-Out. It will be even better when we win!”

Keim also remarked that minion theme isn’t without its challenges: “Definitely won’t put yellow paint on; I’m worried it will stain me. But I’ll probably just wear overalls and black goggles.”

But wait! Don’t worry too much about minion theme as it recently was changed. It was switched to Black and Yellow. Our football team was not chosen as a Steeler game of the week, but anything Pittsburgh team related is welcome!

The home game themes this year are: USA, Black and Yellow, Country, Camo, Pink-Out, and Black-Out.

The away game themes this year are: Beach, Neon, White-Out, and Jersey.
