The "Beaver Bubble" concept describes the insular nature of Beaver itself; so naturally, the Bubble podcast is meant to interview people within the Beaver Area community.
Founded by junior Will Lamb and myself, the Bubble seeks to interview literally everyone in the Beaver Area High School junior class and hopefully find some interesting stories along the way from students of all backgrounds.
"Beaver tends to be a little clique-ish, so we’re trying to ignore that whole aspect and just say we’re all students of the school," said Lamb.
Of course Will and I had no experience editing videos and audio, so we turned to junior Zane Kelley.
"He really carries the technical aspect of the podcast," said Lamb.
Despite the videos being around 15 minutes long, Kelley can’t put an exact figure on how long it takes to edit each video.
"I’m ashamed of how long it takes to be honest," joked Kelley. "I’m still learning all the intricacies of editing, so I’m sure it won’t take as long in the future."
As of this article’s publishing, two interviews have been posted to YouTube, one featuring junior Joe Gordon and the other featuring junior David Newman.
"Being on [the Bubble] was really fun; I liked eating chips on the air," commented Newman.
Despite current enthusiasm over the show, student media projects have a tendency to fizzle over time. For the time being, Lamb can’t see that happening.
The Bubble currently averages 150 views per episode.
"The hype might die down in a month but we plan to interview everyone we can."
Notable Beaver Area fellow-podcast creator junior Liam Bull has very much enjoyed the show so far.
"It’s pretty good. I’ve got some ideas on how to improve it, but I like it so far," Bull said.
