The Bobcat golfers have officially putted their way into playoffs!
Though in the past the Beaver Area golfers have not been successful in their playoff dreams, this season looks to be the exception.
The Bobcat best team record is a 202 with the best solo performance being by junior Pacer Hill shooting a 36.
The team competes on their home “turf” of Seven Oaks Country Club or travels to an away opponent’s course.
The Bobcat golfers competed at the MAC competition September 8 at the Blackhawk golf course.
Sophomore Ava Mrkonja stated, “MACs was fun! It’s always a good time meeting girls from other schools and playing a match with them. Everyone is really nice and I look forward to it every year.”
The team is already nearing the end of their short season and have high hopes for the outcome of their playoff drives, chips, and putts.
The team’s breakout stars include seniors Jack Ray, Brad Allison, Giovanni Nuzzo, and Hill who all show promise, poise, and skill on the green.
Several girls have also now shown interest in golf competition prompting the question of whether or not there may be an all-girls team rather than a co-ed squad in the Bobcats’ future.
There are 18 boys on the Bobcat team and four girls.
The Bobcats’ golf team is led by head coach Matt Carson and assistant coach Jeremy Schmidt.
