As the weather gets chillier you must be looking for a good way to warm up. Curling up under a fluffy blanket and reading a good book always works, but you need to add a cup hot chocolate to the mix. Rather than drinking that Swiss Miss from the grocery store why not try something a little different . . . and better . . .
Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
-1/2 cup hot chocolate mix
-Whipped cream
-7 Oreos
-2 cups whole milk
Directions:
1.) In a small saucepan heat milk very hot—but not boiling.
2.) In a blender add the hot milk, Oreos, and hot chocolate mix. Pulse until cookies are completely ground and there are no large pieces.
3.) Pour into cups and and garnish with whipped cream if you desire.
Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
-1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
-32 oz. milk
-1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
-1 cup mini marshmallows
Directions:
1.) In a pan on medium heat add the chocolate chips and peanut butter and heat until smooth being careful not to let it get too hot or it will harden.
2.) Whisk the milk in very slowly, the slower the better. Continue mixing until chocolate is completely incorporated into the milk. This should take one to two minutes.
3.) Add in cocoa powder and make sure it is completely mixed in.
4.) Continue cooking until it starts to froth on top.
5.) Serve with marshmallows to garnish.
White Pumpkin Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
-1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
-1 pinch ground cloves
-1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice
-1 pinch sea salt
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
-2 oz. white chocolate
-1 1/2 cup whole milk
Directions:
1.) In a small saucepan over medium heat combine milk, pumpkin puree, and spices. Cook until simmering while stirring constantly.
2.) Take off heat and add chocolate. Save some chocolate to garnish if you would like.
3.) Serve garnished with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
