Ah, Christmas break. ‘Tis the season to visit and spend time with loved ones, or for some Beaver Area High School students and staff, ‘tis the season for travel.
From Florida to Jamaica to Haiti, senior Abigail Kohrmann boarded a cruise ship to find paradise.
She walked onto the ship hoping she would have the time of her life. And she did!
“The cruise was spectacular!” exclaimed Kohrmann. “I never wanted it to end.”
Some of the activities Kohrmann participated in were sight seeing, swimming, and soaking up the sun’s hot rays.
For the Kohrmann family, you could say the Christmas break was a splash.
Junior Jason Dong made a trip across the country to Los Angeles, California, or rather the city of angels.
While in the Los Angeles area, Dong visited various locations such as Little Tokyo, Hollywood, Venice Beach, Griffith observatory, and San Monica.
Since Dong and his family traveled after Christmas, he celebrated the new year in Los Angeles. For New Year’s Eve, Dong went to San Monica beach to see fireworks while toasting in the new year and the end of a decade.
On the weird side of the six-day trip, Dong had the joy of trying Vietnamese snails.
“They weren’t as bad as I expected,” said Dong. “They were actually pretty good.”
Not only did he eat a lot of good food, but he also visited an amusement park.
Universal Studios? Isn’t that in Florida? Yes and no. Dong went to the Universal Studios in California and let’s just say it was magical alright. From getting butter beer at Harry Potter world to riding exciting rollercoasters, Dong had the time of his life.
“I hope to go back one day,” Dong stated.
Breezy trees and sandy beaches is what English Ms. Aimee Firmani sought over break. Yes, you guessed it! Hawaii!
Ms. Firmani had the luxury of spending Christmas the Hawaiian way on the island of Maui.
Her eight-day vacation consisted of snorkeling, surfing, and swimming at local beaches. In fact, Ms. Firmani went to a black sand beach during the break along with other Hawaiian beaches.
“I found the black sand beaches the coolest,” Ms. Firmani exclaimed, “but the fun I had surfing the waves and looking at aquatic animals buried away in the coral was even better.”
Christmas is the time for family and fun. These Beaver Are High School students and teacher sure had fun this Christmas break—and we hope you did too.
