Thanks to sleeping in, plenty of freedom, and a great data plan, I got extremely used to internet slang over the summer, so coming back to school I got numerous questionable looks when I got too excited about something and used my casual internet lingo.
So to help clarify, I made a list of slang terms I use on a daily basis so people might understand what I am saying . . .
“Wig” — Used when someone does something amazing or impressive or when someone looks good.
*Did you see her outfit?
Yes, wig! She looks so good.*
“Tea” — “Spill the tea” is often used when someone wants to spill details about a recent event. Not to be confused with sipping tea, which means minding your business.
*Are you going to spill the tea?
Yes, the tea is...*
“It really do be like that sometimes” — A general comment of recognition or acknowledgement used when anything happens at anytime; I typically use it to recognize a minor inconvenience.
*I failed a test.
It really do be like that sometimes.*
“Jump” — A house party
Are you going to this jump tonight?
“This ain’t it chief” — Used when someone disagrees with something.
*I’m going to call her.
This ain’t it chief.*
“This energy” — Also used when someone agrees with something.
*I love this song!
Ugh your energy!*
“Let’s get this bread” — Let’s make money; often used ironically when people are doing anything but making money.
*Good morning; let’s get this bread. *
“(Sent in invisible ink)” — Used after a risky tweet or comment is posted for which you expect to get some objections.
I don’t like candy corn (sent in invisible ink)
