It’s that time of year again, time for giving thanks, giving back, and the JROTC is accepting food items for their annual food drive.
“We’ve been doing this [food drive] for at least 12 years, and we normally support 10 families each year, so I believe we will support 10, if not more, families this year,” said Sgt. Major Oscar Weaver.
Junior Charles Oravitz is in charge of the food drive for the JROTC this year.
“We’re looking for items such as potatoes, corn, canned vegetables, Mac n Cheese, boxes of stuffing, and other non-perishable food items,” explained Oravitz.
This year, McDonald’s also is helping the JROTC with the food drive as well. You can bring food items into the restaurant located in Beaver, and the items will be brought to the school for the food drive.
“Donations can be made in the front office or in the JROTC classroom, Room 307,” said battalion commander Meghan senior Shelatz.
The drive began November 4 and concluded November 15, but if you hurry, you still can make your contributions before the donations are delivered to area families.
Monetary donations also are accepted which allows the JROTC to buy additional food items to ensure the families have a happy Thanksgiving feast.
