The Cats are guarding their position in the section!
Beaver Area’s girls basketball has a conference record of 4-3 and overall record of 11-6.
Head coach Mr. Greg Huston explained that “We’ve had a bit of an up and down season. We’ve played well at times and struggled at times, but hopefully we can get back to playing better basketball as we near the playoffs.”
After a hard loss against Blackhawk, the Bobcats faced Union January 24 at home.
The Bobcats fell by only two points with a final score of 41-39.
This was not a conference game.
Mr. Huston said, “We have three seniors who will be graduating, but our underclassmen have received a lot of playing time this year. We have good players at all grade levels so I would think that the team will continue to be tough over the next few years.”
This season junior Chloe List has been the scoring leader, but senior Hailey Tooch and sophomore Zoe Ringer also net valuable points in games.
Just two days later, January 26, the Bobcats tipped off against Hopewell for the second time but this time at home.
The Cats pulled a second section win against the Vikings with a final score of 38-27.
“We have qualified for the playoffs, and they will start in a few weeks. I think we have the talent to win some playoff games, but the girls are going to have to step up in order for us to do that,” Mr. Huston explained.
For their second of five conference games in a row, the Bobcats faced Quaker Valley January 30.
During the unusually low-scoring game, the Bobcats fell to the Quakers, for the second time, with a final score of 29-21.
Mr. Huston explained, “We play Blackhawk next Thursday at home for Community Night, so hopefully we can get a win that night.”
