Want to make your voice heard in this CRITICAL election? Want to make a direct contribution to your society? Want to exercise your 26th Amendment right? Want to make your forefathers proud?
Then vote.
Beaver Area High School is hosting a voter drive. SHOUT is organizing a student-led voter drive event within the comfortable walls of our very own high school.
September 30 to October 4, our voter drive allows students who will be 18 years of age by November 5 to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election without leaving the comfort of their own school.
With help from the Pittsburgh Civic Center, student leaders like seniors Genna Sisteck, Quinn O’Leary, and I are working together to register as many senior students as possible before October 21.
If interested, there are a few essential items you need to bring with you: State Approved Identification such as your Driver’s License or Permit Number, as well as the last four digits of your social security number (However, please don’t bring your social security card to the school.😟)
If you’re interested in registering and don’t have a valid driver license or permit, please email me, Kallie Reap, or Genna Sisteck for assistance.
In addition, there are also some standard voter eligibility requirements. You must be a US citizen, a resident of Pennsylvania (lived in the state for at least 30 days), and have no pending criminal convictions or history of major mental incompetence.
SHOUT club members will either be stopping by your history classes for a brief presentation or they will have a table set up at lunch (similar to homecoming ticket sales) to answer any questions you might have.
Thanks to Ms. Aimee Firmani for being the teacher sponsor for this drive, and the SHOUT team is thrilled to have her for support and guidance.
Ms. Firmani stated her excitement for this student-led drive and stressed the importance of this event.
“Our voter registration drive is about empowering students to take their first step toward making a real impact in their communities and beyond. Too often, young voices go unheard because they aren't on the voter rolls. By helping each other register, we’re making sure that more teens are seen, heard, and ready to be the change they want to see,” shared Ms. Firmani.
Remember to email me Kallie Reap (ksrst@basd.k12.pa.us), Genna Sisteck (gmsst01@basd.k12.pa.us) or Quinn O’Leary (mqost01@basd.k12.pa.us) if you have any questions.
See you at the polls November 5!
