It’s been a while since anyone has been updated on popular slang, so if you’ve been offline recently, here’s your update for the past few months.
“Vibing” — (1) Hanging out, chilling, in a good mindset (2) Energy surrounding a situation or person.
(1) We’re just vibing, bro; come on over.
(2) The vibes here are just totally off.
“Clownery” — Used in response to someone doing something or saying something disrespectful
Did you see what that actor posted on Instagram the other day?
Yes, absolute clownery.
“Fair enuf”— derived from a popular YouTube video by Cody Ko and Noel Miller, “fair enuf” simply means fair enough. Usually said in a mocking tone.
We made some really good cookies.
Fair enuf, dude.
“Ight, I’m boutta head out” — I’m leaving.
Ight, I’m boutta head out. See you guys tomorrow.
“I have to laugh” — cynical, no one is laughing, probably making fun of or angry at whatever they’re responding to
He told me he was too good for me.
Wow, I have to laugh.
“Stan” — comes from stan Twitter, a side of Twitter that fangirls over favorite singers/actors/whatever else. Stan is when you appreciate and follow a celebrity or person closely.
I have no choice but to stan Harry Styles after his last single.
Hopefully after reading this story you won’t look like a total clown on Twitter anymore. Sometimes I have to laugh; I hope your vibes are all positive from now on.
