Spring 2022 is just around the corner, and with it comes warmer weather and cooler style. There are many trends to keep an eye out for when shopping for your warm-weather wardrobe.
Shades of pale purple have been increasingly popular after Pantone announced the color of the year as “Very Peri”, a soothing periwinkle shade. Other colors are bold, warm shades, such as vibrant oranges, pinks, and reds. Yellow is also experiencing a moment, especially in pastel shades.
These bold spring shades are heralding a new era of “dopamine dressing”, a trend emerging after lockdowns. Maximalism and bright, bold statements are the centerpiece of this trend with clashing colors, textures, and fabrics all combining to create an eye-popping outfit. As for patterns, pinstripe seems to be the pattern of the season, perfect to be dressed up or dressed down as desired.
If bold isn’t your style, there are plenty of classic trends making the rounds again this year. Crocheted and knitted tops are once again at the top of many stylists’ lists, providing a comfortable spring alternative to heavy sweaters. The classic sweetheart neckline is regaining popularity.
Statement puffs, as seen in many designers’ Spring 2022 shows, are a trend to keep an eye on this season. Puff sleeves are one variation of this design, while flared, poofy skirts are another way the trend can be styled.
Cutouts are being featured predominantly in many designers’ spring collections, and the placement options are seemingly limitless but are predominantly featured along the shoulders and neckline as well as the sides.
The Y2K aesthetic is still in the public eye with early-2000s fashions making their way back onto the runways. Low-rise jeans and mid-rise are back in style however disappointing that may be. With the lower cut jeans being featured, longer tops are seeming to be more ideal allowing for a slightly cropped yet still modest look.
If you’re looking for accessories to pair with these newly trending styles, look no further than pearls and “banana bags”. Pearls seem to be the statement jewelry piece of the season allowing for minimalist or maximalist looks to go with anything. Curved, vaguely banana shaped bags in bold colors are also appearing more frequently allowing for a practical yet stylish statement piece.
As always, remember that fashion trends come and go, but personal style is eternal. Dress in what makes you comfortable and you can’t go wrong!
