Winter 2021 is right around the corner, and with it comes new seasonal fashion trends along with the return of some former favorites.
Classy sparkles and sequins are making a comeback this year—and no, we’re not talking about 2015 sequined tracksuits. Simple yet elegant statement pieces are the centerpiece of this trend. Silver sparkles seem to be an especially prominent example, tying together otherwise muted or understated outfits.
Fringe is back as well adding a cute twist to outfits. Be careful not to overdo it, however, as it’s a trend where less is always more. This season, we’re seeing more dangly, thinner fringe, almost reminiscent of the fringe on a 20’s flapper dress.
Love them or hate them, single material outfits—double denim (can you say, “Canadian tuxedo”?), leather on leather—are making a return. The monomaterial looks can be cute when styled correctly, and the best way to do that is to vary the shades or colors of the pieces—e.g., a light wash denim jacket with darker wash jeans.
Just because cold weather is here, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on fashionable accessories. There’s definitely a more luxurious feeling this season with elegant statement pieces.
Extra long scarves are fashionable this year helping you keep warm while adding some extra accessory value to the fit. Earth tones or neutral colors seem to be especially popular with these pieces, especially grays and clay colors.
Naturally, coats are an essential item during the winter, especially in Western Pennsylvania. This season longer coats are seeing their day in the sun—or should we say snow—with knee-length coats making a statement. Additionally, extra puffy puffer jackets are in style now.
Purses and handbags can be the finishing touch to pull an outfit together. Small cinch wristlets and clutches are in the spotlight now, and while they may not be the most practical for carrying everything you need, they are certainly a gorgeous accessory to take an outfit up a level.
Whatever you choose, stay warm!
