Springs sports are right around the corner which means the return of the WPIAL and PIAA champion Beaver Area softball team.
Head Coach:
Amy Haggart
What are your expectations for the season?
“I expect the girls to have fun and give 100% at every game and practice. Expectations are high coming off the season we had last year going 21-0 and winning both the WPIAL and PIAA championships. We lost five key players who graduated; however, the freshmen and returning players are hungry to repeat what happened last year. The girls will give it their all to prove how much they want it again,” shared Coach Haggart.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
“I’m most looking forward to getting to know the freshmen and other new teammates and build a stable team in order to win some game this season,” said senior Ashlee Karas.
Who are the player(s) your competition should be looking out for this season?
“I believe the whole senior class has the motivation to come back and continue our legacy of being champions, but [junior] Kayla Cornell, who scored the last run to help us win the WPIAL last season, will definitely come back strong this year,” shared Karas.
Who will be your toughest competition this season?
“Our toughest competition will be ourselves. Our coaches constantly tell us that no one can beat us as long as we put our all into the game,” shared Karas.
Does your team have any rituals or traditions you can share?
“Coach Amy always says before every game or practice, ‘Routine plays,’ and the team replies, ‘Win games.’ It pumps up the team to push ourselves and make us smile,” said Karas.
When is your first section game?
“Our first game is March 29 at New Castle High School. The game starts at 4 p.m.; come out and show us some support,” shared Karas.
