The Beaver Area High School girls tennis team never fails to disappoint, and this season is no different.
October 5, the girls won section champions for the third year in a row!
The team played Elwood City High School in the section finale, winning 5-0.
The match results demonstrated the hard work the girls put in this season: Anna Blum (1st singles) won 6-0 6-0, Fiona Rubino (2nd singles) won 6-2 6-1, Isabel Rubino (3rd singles) won 6-1 6-2, Chloe DeSanzo and Lily Pruszenski (1st doubles) won 6-1 6-1, and Ella Peluso and Elle Taylor (2nd doubles) 6-1, 6-0.
While the girls worked hard to get the finale, being section champs has become an annual event.
“Our section was pretty weak this year, so we were expected to win,” admitted sophomore Peluso.
The varsity girls tennis team members this year are seniors Grace Hankinson and Blum, juniors Delaney Young, Olivia Kullen, and the Rubino twins, sophomores Pruszenski and Peluso, and freshman DeSanzo and Taylor.
Hankinson, Young, and Kullen competed in exhibition this season.
The ladies are continually thankful for their coaches and the expert coaching they bring to the courts—Head Coach Riley Baker and Assistant Coach Greg Peluso.
The girls went undefeated again this year with a record of 7-0, leading them to the section title, but they still have playoffs ahead of them.
