November 15, the STEAM club team of Cindy Liu, Ethan Davis, Josh Mateer, and Kate Verone won the Powering Pittsburgh competition at Heinz Field.

Contestant teams from area schools were asked to propose alternatives for powering Heinz Field.

Winning the contest, sponsored by Shell Polymers, means that the group secured $1500 for Beaver Area’s STEAM program, but better still, the group members will be introduced on the field during a special presentation at the December 2 Steeler game.

Beaver Area’s second club team, though they didn’t win, also was invited to compete in the upcoming finals.

The club is sponsored by Mrs. Kerri Misko and Mr. Jason Beltz.
