Put away the mats; wrestling season is over.
January 25 and 26 the boys wrestling team traveled to Grove City for the Fred Bell tournament. Unfortunately, none of the Beaver Area wrestlers placed.
But that’s no matter because next up was senior night for the boys against Quaker Valley February 4. Seniors wrestlers included George Peroni, Chuckie Bates, Dom Reagan, and Justin Dudek.
Juniors Alec Coulter and John Hall both pinned their opponents. Sophomore Brady Earhart pinned his competition as well.
Unfortunately, the boys ended with a close score falling 42-41 to the Quakers.
To finish out the season the team travelled to Ambridge High School for their last match February 6.
The match started at 172 pounds with Peroni pinning his opponent.
Next up was Bates who won 7-1—and who even got spit on by his opponent (he must have been doing something right). Freshman Jack Ferguson also pinned his opponent.
Coulter pinned a senior from Ambridge in 30 seconds. Earhart and Reagan pinned their opponents.
Such decisive victories made for a great finish to the season for the team!
“Personally the season ended on a great note with one of our best matches the entire season,” remarked Coulter.
The wrestlers ended their season with a 4-2-1 record.
