The Beaver Area Cross Country team is running into a great season so far.
The regular season has wrapped up, and the girls fought hard this year to earn the second place slot in their section with their 7-1 record.
The boys, not far behind, earned third place in their section with the record 5-3.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries this year, but that has not stopped us from having a great season!” commented junior Cannon Hoback.
The girls also recently won the John Sample/Grove City Invitational which is an awesome accomplishment for our Bobcats!
The top runners on the team this season are senior Ella Andrew and junior Elijah Bechdel.
Andrew said that her “favorite part [of cross country] so far this year is hanging out with my team.”
The team traveled to Hershey the weekend of September 24 for pre-states. The girls team overall placed third at pre-states with Andrew placing eight individually.
The final home meet for cross country was October 4, and it was also senior night to recognize our senior runners. The boys defeated New Castle but lost to Chartiers Valley in the tri-meet while the girls defeated both schools.
The runners are working hard and preparing for WPIAL’s in a couple weeks, so keep the support and encouragement high for our long-distance Bobcats.
The Bobcats’ cross country team is led by Head Coach Steve Goldcamp and Assistant Coach Bill Lamb.
