The Bobcats keep absolutely destroying their competition as their golden season goes on.
While they thought their January 19 game was going to be tough, it was a simple walk in the park as the ladies dominated the Central Valley Warriors 53-9.
“We knew that we had to come out and play our game. We wanted to focus on cleaning up our offense and staying strong with our defense,” explained senior Emma Pavelek about the CV game.
The Cats then went on to defeat the Hopewell Viking 53-21 at home January 21.
“It definitely wasn't our best game, but a win is a win and we can’t argue with that. We’re going to work on improving so we can be playing our best basketball,” stated senior Kenzie Weiland.
The Cats had a long week until they played their next game against section rival, the Blackhawk Cougars, but the wait didn’t cool their winning ways. The Cats defeated the Cougars in a big section game 61-44 January 28.
“It was a hard-fought game. Both teams put their hearts into it, but someone had to come out the winner and our team killed it on offense. We got them this time, but next time we play them, we need to work on box outs and defensive rebounds,” explained junior Payton List.
“Going into [the Blackhawk game], I knew I was going to have to step up and just play my hardest. At the beginning, I was of course nervous, since it was my first time starting [varsity]. But the energy from all the girls really helped calm my nerves and I quickly got more comfortable. Our offense was flowing so well and I think we really came together as a team for a good win,” added sophomore Constina Krzeczowski.
“It’s always a good win against Blackhawk, and the girls played a great game. They really stepped up and controlled the ball on both sides of the ball,” stated Coach Greg Huston.
After a long six days, the Bobcats went on to face the Ambridge Bridgers at Ambridge. They defeated the Bridgers in a complete wipeout 68-17.
They then traveled to Montour to face the Spartans where they defeated them in a 46-23 quick game.
The Bobcats prepare for a huge section game tonight where they face the Quaker Valley Quakers for the chance to secure the section title. Will they be the big section winner? (Hint: probably . . . but stay calm until the final buzzer.)
