Tough sections beat Bobcats, but the Beaver Area High School boys basketball team hopes to add more wins to the scoreboard this season.
The Bobcats are under a new coaching staff this year. New Head Coach Casey Kaiser has been working hard with the boys during the off-season in hopes this season’s record is better than last year’s.
“During the off-season, we have been doing a lot of lifting and conditioning. We also got a new coaching staff who have had us in the gym getting ready,” said junior Sawyer Butler.
During their rebuilding season last year, the Bobcats went 1-15 in the section, but this year the boys are looking to have a winning record.
“I don’t think this will be another rebuilding year. We do only have two seniors, making us a young team, but I think we will be able to compete with the competition,” said Butler.
Just like the girls basketball team, the boys now play in AAAA as well, which has some of the toughest high school sports competition in the state. The boys basketball team is full of talent, skill and leadership; unfortunately, they aren’t always able to execute it on the courts due to the section they play in.
“We play in a very tough section; it’s hard to get wins sometimes, but I am optimistic that we will have a good season,” said junior Luke Tomalski.
Tomalski predicts that the team’s toughest competition will be Quaker Valley High School and Lincoln Park High School this upcoming season.
The Bobcats will tip off their season December 10 away again Carrick High School at 6 p.m. in the Brentwood Tip-Off Tournament.
Good luck, Cats!
